Unfortunately, saying "tried it, didn't work" isn't going to give any information about the problem.
"Tried it, didn't work" means the Pi is still NOT seeing the NVMe.

I should have elaborated more. What I was trying to say is that when you try something let us know if anything changed. So, I tried that and the messages from dmesg where the same. Alternatively, I tried that and there were no more errors in the dmesg output, but the drive still didn't show up on desktop.
