nonsense! Keep the default boot order unchanged, have your 'main use OS' on the NVMe. If you want to use other 'cool linux OS' simply boot it from your uSD. Swap uSD for another even cooler OS, remove uSD when you want to use your main OS...
Another thing with SDCard. You can use other cool linux os, wothout the troble you get wit a SSD. If you use an SSD, You maybe stuck to the same os, like I was with Windows! Now, I feel free with the Raspberry Pi imager and a smart SDCard, that offer alot, over Windows and a SSD.
SDCard rules!
